Winter sweater dress style edit

Not sure about you, but here in NC temps have drastically dropped. Brisk weather means sweater weather. My love for both sweaters and feminine dress style run deep, so naturally a combo of the two make me swoon this time of year.

From Holiday parties, to an afternoon of errands, nothing tops the sweater dress. It’s comfy, chic, and the perfect go to for feeling put together, with very minimal effort. This season I’ve been drawn to several, and thought to spotlight three of my favorite sweater dress styles and offer my round up of the season’s best for those likewise loving.

short dress

This elongated jumper style is most likely the style many think of when they think of a sweater dress. Just as the name states, we’ve more of our favorite sweater to work with. Style it casually with lug boots and a plaid shacket, or dress it up with knee high boots and a seasonal overcoat.

Sezane’s Jaelle merino wool short dress is my newest closet addition and is a dream to wear. It holds a high neckline, with the prettiest ruffle hem detail and functional buttons. It’s the perfect length, is comfortable and extremely versatile.

textured midi

When looking to elevate your fit a little further, the more fitted, ribbed texture is an optimal choice. It can be worn alone, or accentuated with a chic overcoat for dressier occasions.

This J.Crew rib knit midi has been in closet for a few years now, tho has proven sustainable and is still in the best of condition. It holds a slight bodycon feel, with quality fabric that moves with you when worn. I’ve found one very similar, here.

oversized

An extension of the short dress, the oversized elongated jumper presents the most versatility. It’s a cozy pull for lounging on the weekends or styling it a little more dressy when going out.

This Topshop number sits readily on queue this time of year. I’ve styled it on numerous occasions and love the comfort, and likewise versatility. I am confident this season’s option suits the same.

The sweater dress is offered in endless textures, lengths, patterns, and colors. Styles range widely, proving this piece both versatile and suitable for everyone! From midi to maxi, cable knit to cashmere, various necklines and color blocking, I’ve rounded up 16 more affordable options for Winter. Click on any dress image below to shop directly.
