Sweater weather is here, ya’ll. The cool air hits and it’s go-time. It’s as if a light switch is turned on, cueing rotation for sweaters on repeat thru Spring. I also feel it eases the ability to style – sweaters hold the easy trait. Got denim? Top it with a sweater. How about that pleated midi skirt? A sweater will round up your look nicely. There’s no doubt it’s an easy go to this season. But if we’re pulling out the easy button – the ‘one and done’ cold weather piece deserves a spotlight of it’s own – cue the sweater dress.
The sweater dress provides the easiest look of all. Throw it on, complete with your shoe preference and you’re good to go. From Holiday parties, to an afternoon of errands your outfit is set with this sole piece. All said, it’s extremely versatile. It can be worn however you prefer – either alone or vastly accessorized. It’s offered in endless textures, patterns, colors and styles. Today’s post shares 4 ways to style an affordable sweater dress – proving versatility and an effortless wear.
The mock neck sweater dress worn below is Madewell. It fits TTS, and is offered in 2 colors. Comfortable, a solid staple, and most importantly, easy. I’ve also provided a few other optional styles currently available.
Start simple:
A simple scarf (see ways to style it here) or a belt will add a bit of texture and shape to your frame! Here I mixed the plaid and snake print booties to add a little edge to my look!
Dress it up:
Give those fabulous knee high boots you invested in for Fall a time to shine! Here I pulled in a bit of sophisticated texture with the fringe wrap, but any shawl or cardigan will work nicely!
Go casual:
Just because it’s a dress, doesn’t mean it has to be dressy. Make it your everyday look and layer with a vest, leggings, and wedge sneakers!
Accessorize to the nines:
This look is probably my favorite amongst all of them. It has a little of everything I love – a plaid blazer, leopard, fringe earrings, nude pumps .. mixing trends, prints, textures and everything in between is why I love the sweater dress. It provides a solid canvas to build on.
