The oversized shacket | styled 3 ways

My love for an oversized, button down started young. Raiding my dad’s closet for every plaid flannel he owned became quite the ritual in middle school. I remember wearing them over tees, to keep warm whilst in Home Ec and often tied round my waist. They were completely in, and ironically served the function of a jacket even back then. Fast forward a few decades and the trend has cycled back around. This time it has a fashionable title; the Shacket – Part shirt, part jacket. And as much as I was for it back then, I am 100% here for it now.

I’ve seen these oversized shackets pop up everywhere! You’ve plaid, flannel, corduroy, wool – the options are endless. Unlike a traditional flannel button down, the fabric is slightly thicker to accommodate the jacket name. They hold a similar structure with button closures and give me that desired oversized fit I closet ransacked for years ago. Today, I’ve styled 3 different shackets that have made way to my closet this season. All are affordable and add versatility to one’s closet.

Style with a dress // I love the way the shacket tones down what is normally considered dressy. Yes, the combat boots give your look a bit of edge, but the shacket completes your casual. This plaid flannel is from Amazon. Having read reviews, I went with my true size, xs.

Style with leggings // Naturally oversized, the length of the shacket works well with leggings. Here I paired a comfortable tunic top with faux leather leggings. Easy and simple. I love the color of this one, as it combines that boyfriend/dad/masculinity of a plaid flannel with a feminine pink twist!  As for sizing, I originally ordered my true size, but upon arrival thought it too boxy and the arms too short. I returned for one size up and it works really well.

Style with a graphic tee // While I paired this solid color grey shacket with a graphic tee, you could easily switch out the solid for the printed and it would work well! This shacket runs large and oversized, just how I like it! Paired it with skinny jeans and booties, this Abercrombie fave serves just as it should and completes the look nicely!

There you have it – three oversized shackets, styled three ways. I’ve included them + a few other options I love, below. What’s your favorite way to wear this trend? Until next time, thanks for stopping by!
