If you haven’t figured out by now, I love the midi skirt. I love it so much that I’ve topic’d and styled 2 types (going on 3 with the satin) of midis in past style sessions. Its a piece I’ve found fits my style best and the type of skirt I reach for most. I realize this length and style isn’t for everyone, tho the midi will forever be a staple in my capsule build and one I feel optimal for outfit inspiration!
Tho there was a slight hesitation (fear of duplicates), two midi’s made the cut in my 2020 Spring capsule. I feel the length is flattering on all and provides much versatility in your closet, no matter the print or thread. And the satin skirt, in particular, is just too good to leave out this season!
Tho this gorgeous green midi fit perfectly in palette alone, finding multiple ways to style the piece is always a requirement in capsule selection. Finding versatility in any piece helps determine value. But I will say, as I have stated before, that being a fashion blogger, I am presented with new trends, optional basics, and color palettes on seasonal roll. Incorporating every piece to fit structure can be difficult and sticking strictly to the contents of a capsule when styling wouldn’t be an accurate representation of my personal closet. You’ll see I’ve styled this capsule piece multiple ways today using pieces from my current capsule and others I pulled from past. It’s unlikely that you all have these exact Spring capsule pieces anyway, so providing inspiration from both covers a more universal canvas.
Today’s post shares 5 ways to style a satin midi skirt – a style and uprising trend I am all for this Spring. All looks were styled with this J.Crew satin midi. This skirt is currently avail in 6 colors and runs a bit large. I am in an XXS. I’ve made sure to provide other comparible options at end.
Dress it up // Worn with a neutral mixed media top and heels you’ve a perfect 9 to 5 look. Simple and elegant. sweater (similar) | pumps
Utilize a bodysuit // A bodysuit spotlights the skirt in entirety and provides shape all in one. Layered with a sweater blazer, you’ve now alternative ways to wear if temp changes.bodysuit | sweater blazer | heels (similar)
Layer your look // Chances are you’ve a few transitional sweaters in closet. Layer your oversized sweater or poncho and pair it with booties for a stylish ensemble.poncho | booties (similar)
