HOW TO GET STARTED GUIDE - Capsule Wardrobe
Hello friends! It’s here! My 2020 Spring Capsule Wardrobe! If you’ve been around a while and are subscribed you had exclusive access to my capsule wardrobe last season. For Spring’s feature, subscribers have first look, with all access open mid week! Whether you’re subscribed or you’ve landed here from mere curiosity, I hope this post helps answer questions you may have about capsule wardrobes, it’s process, the benefits, and more so – be a source of inspiration when building your own!
Not much has changed in my capsule build. In creating this for y’all, I wanted the process to be as precise as was written in my ‘How to get started’ guide. (download above) I purged and went thru items I no longer wore (yes – I said goodbye to my decade old denim). I sought out inspiration on Pinterest. I developed a color palette from the pieces I couldn’t live without. I accessed all in closet, noted what I needed more of and what I should cease buying. I wrote out outfits upon outfits. And finally, settled on 51 pieces I am beyond excited to feature. All of them I feel comfortable in, are versatile, and reflect my personal style this season.
By no means do I suggest grabbing all of these items. The intent in building a capsule is to start with the items you have beforehand and progress from there. (again – be sure to check out my entire ‘how to get started’ guide to chat all the ins and outs of capsule building.) If you have some of these items, that’s awesome! If you have similar items, go ahead and replace my example for your own. If you love my color palette, or any of the outfits pieced together, please use the inspiration! My hope in sharing this capsule is to shed light on the benefits of a minimal wardrobe, see the versatility in each chosen piece, and ease any doubt in the ability to create your own!
The idea behind a capsule really is to minimize and get the most use out of your chosen pieces. With this being a seasonal capsule, I intend on wearing these items a good solid three months, so naturally the item count is high. As mentioned before, being a fashion blogger, I am presented with new essentials, basics, color palettes on seasonal roll. Incorporating every piece to fit structure can be difficult. So if I fall in love with a piece outside my color palette, I am not going to nix the wear just because it may not fit in my set wardrobe. And you shouldn’t either. As long as you are aware of consumption habits, mindful of use and still feel beautiful in the pieces chosen, you’ve grasped the benefit of capsule creation.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s included in the capsule, with links to the items. I’ve also linked similar items on a few if they’re no longer available or at a lower price point:
