4 ways to transition skinny overalls to Fall

4 ways to transition skinny overalls to Fall

Let’s chat overalls. If you grew up in the 90s, they were the IT piece. I had a classic GAP pair I wore at least once a week. Fast forward many moons and they seem to still be around. Tho overalls have proven timeless, I will say that I was hesitant to give them a go in my adult years. Could be I’ve categorized them adolescent and associate them with those worn back in middle school – an oversized fit, lacking any shape to my frame. But, when I saw this skinny style – my favorite style of denim to wear, I thought to give them a try. The bottom half fits like your favorite pair of skinny jeans and the top a relived playful vibe. I’ll mention, they are still incredibly comfortable and practical for everyday.

Today I am sharing several different ways I’ll be wearing my overalls in the coming months. After brainstorming ways to style them, I am convinced these really are a year round staple. They are incredibly versatile and can be styled from one season to the next very easily. Summer to Fall looks are a breeze in these new favorites.

Specifically  – today’s post features the skinny blue Overalls in Jansing wash from Madewell. I’ve tried both the small and xtra small. They do have some stretch after wear, so I prefer the xtra small fit. The regular length fits perfectly despite my 5’2″ height but they are offered in petite and tall for those the latter.  I’ve also made sure to link a few other pairs for you (here and here), in case they are out of your size in the Madewell pair or if you’re wanting the style at a lower price point.

I’ve also teamed up with @kecerri for this styling session, so be sure to swing by her blog and Instagram stories to see how she’s styling these, too! She has the best style, and I know you’ll love the looks she’s put together!

I think this is the cutest look to wear now! Utilize all the fun pieces of Summer – the tank top bodysuit, rattan circle bag and gladiator sandals are easily accessible.  Unfortunately, the gladiator sandals shown are unavailable, tho I’ve linked similar options to recreate the style shown.

More stripes? Why not? This simple striped short sleeve tee looks so cute with the overalls. And I love the straw aesthetic in both the tote and mules. An easy and classic everyday ensemble!

I have recently jumped on the beltbag bandwagon (I know..first overalls, now a belt bag? Talk about a blast from the past!) This modern day take on a ‘fanny pack’ proves convenient when paired with our feature.  I found this adorable black tasseled belt bag off Amazon and couldn’t be more pleased with the quality and fit! Add in a pop of print and layer with a cardigan and you’ll be set to transition!

Lastly, make use of Fall’s lightweight utility jacket and layer! Here I paired the overalls with a pointed toe mule, tho any bootie would look cute! Or if you’re headed out to partake in a fun Fall activity (apple picking or the pumpkin patch), pop on your Hunter boots!
