Style Guide of the Week | Elevated basics

Welcome back to our weekly style guide! If you remember last Spring, I created a closet basics series. We’ve all basics in our closets that we wear time and time again, and while I love mixing and matching pieces to ‘make the most’ of my closet, my everyday wear can become quite repetitive and lack creativity. Anyone else?

This week I wanted to share 7 everyday elevated looks. The majority of them read casual, and are built on basics you’ve likely in your closet already. I pulled the basics – a good pair of jeans, a comfortable midi dress, and our favorite leggings to name a few – and elevated them. I mixed casual with dressy, pulled seasonal trends, and paired budget-friendly finds with designer accessories. The result, IMO, are looks that now read chic, confident, stylish, and anything but ordinary. Be sure to check back every week for fresh new looks and style inspo.

Monday

Neutral trousers are versatile, stylish, and office appropriate. I combined our basic trousers with a navy sweater tank, ankle strap pointed flats, and a trending lady jacket. I know it’s slotted for Monday, but this look can easily be taken from work to the weekend. Just switch out the flats for more casual sneakers, and replace the dressier jacket with denim.

Tuesday

The basic tee. It really goes with everything, am I right? I’ve two options to elevate it. You can utilize the cotton tee you’ve in your closet and add upgraded fabrics. I love these silk wide-leg pants and the Fred Salvador d’orsay sneaker. Or you can choose an upgraded basic at the start. This silk-cropped crewneck tee is luxurious in quality and sustainability. You achieve next level either way.

Wednesday

I pulled this exact inspo from Pinterest and to say I am itching to recreate it is an understatement. Pairing a sleeveless sweater dress with a reinvented classic? Genius. I simply love the idea of a cropped trench coat. It’s trendy, stylish, and a fun take on Spring’s layer. Complete this elevated look with neutral sandals and a leather tote.

Thursday

Black jeans rank high on my list of active basics. I paired them with a bandeau top, a collared linen button-up, and heeled sandals. I’ve combined similar pieces in the past (seen here) and no matter the season, this formula always wins. Take this look to dinner, running errands, or out shopping with the girls.

Friday

This look is by far one of my favorites. The combination of dressy and casual is perfection. You have the foundational joggers, tank, and classic sneaker combo; A look you’ve repeated time and time again. Adding the blazer instantly elevates the look.

Saturday

Who else agrees with me that we’ve two types of sweats? We’ve all an ugly pair that we lounge around in and wouldn’t dare go out in public in. And we have a pretty pair that reads comfort chic. These shorts are replacing my pretty pair for the Summer. The fact that you can purchase a separate matching top is a bonus. Add in some stylish accessories and you’re set.

Sunday

Weekends are typically spent comfortably. I love that athleisure is having a moment right now and dressing to feel your best is at the heart of it. You can still opt for leggings and feel put together at the same time. I recently discovered these Varley leggings and love their fit and feel. A cropped tee, sneakers, a hands-free bag, and an oversized layer curate comfort on every level.
