What to wear if you’re invited to an event this Summer

If you haven’t already, you’ll most likely be receiving the first wave of Summer event invites in the mail. Weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, and graduations are filling up your calendar. Because of the wide range of themes or dress codes assigned, shopping for Summer event attire can be both fun and overwhelming. My hope is today’s post will ease any overwhelm and provide you a good narrow down of selections. Today, I’ve rounded up several favorites that I’d personally wear this season if said invite came my way. I’ve also put together a few other frontrunner outfit ideas.

black tie wedding

Black tie shopping can get a little frustrating when you’re trying to mix the formality of dress with the vibe of Summer. You want floor length elegance, yet flowy and playful. Those below top my list.

cocktail wedding

With a cocktail attire dress code, you’ve a little bit more leeway in terms of length. You can go mini, midi, short sleeve, long or play with various necklines. I’d take cue and give my LBD a time to shine. I love these other three options as well.

garden wedding

Ya’ll know my love for florals, so naturally this invite presents options. As a guest, be sure to note the time of day. Garden weddings typically occur mid day, tho some happen around dusk. To keep cool, think lighter fabrics, prints, and textures. Tho this green colored number is brighter than I’d typically opt for, I fell in love with the playful floral pattern, bodice, and tie straps. I’ve a few other favorites below.

beach / destination wedding

Honestly, the beach is one of my very favorite places to escape to. Send me an invite to a destination wedding and I’ll book it before you receive the RSVP. Do note when packing, knowing the grounds venue is equally important. If beach side, I think breezy and romantic fits. This cut out satin halter strap dress would be my choice. Opt for accessories and textures that are beach cohesive – a straw bucket bag and raffia heels fit in semi casual.

If the venue is on resort, bright and bold colors are optimal. Think oranges, pinks, and purples. Have fun with style details, too. Opt for trending cut outs, lengths, and fabric textures that you may otherwise skip out on, if at home. Might as well, right?

shower

Number one rule when attending a wedding shower (or even wedding) is to stray from wearing white. The most important thing to keep in mind is not to upstage or upset the bride. But when it comes to dress code, showers are typically dressy casual. A fun dress alternative is a jumpsuit or even a romper. This pastel pink number is pretty with strap heels and clutch. I’ve others on shower rotation, below.

Graduation

Contrary to a wedding, wearing white to a graduation symbolizes the start of something new. I love this elegant side tie jumpsuit. It’s chic, synonymous and would be the perfect fit to celebrate any graduate. I’ve also these three alternatives.
