The best light wash denim to wear this Spring

It’s no secret I love denim. And while I’ve grasped some sort of control over the years, I admittedly still have a high pair count in closet. So naturally, when it comes to my seasonal capsule builds, this category narrow down is hard. I simply want to wear every pair! But in order to place value on all pieces and get the most out of our closet, wearing the pairs that align with the present season is best.

Spring tends to be a season of refresh, and lighter and brighter styles come into play. This calls for more light washes and cropped styles over dark. I’ve a few pairs of light wash denim that I love and that have been on regular rotation, so I thought to put them in the spotlight today!

Agolde Riley straight crop

This Agolde pair is a top favorite and one I pull often. They sit high on the waist, with a straight leg hold close to the body. They’ve a cropped inseam, making them easy to style with anything from sandals to a heeled boot. While I typically love a little distressing in my denim, this pair is solid – making them a well rounded, smart closet addition.

Agolde 90s loose
Agolde mid rise 90s

The loose fitting trend is one to consider, especially if you wore Doc Martens and plaid shirts back in the day. Wearing 90s fit denim is very nostalgic – at least for me! More so, adding an alternative to tighter fitting skinny jeans is always a plus. While this pair is labeled mid rise, the rise reflects the opposite. At 12 3/4″, these are the highest pair I own. They’ve a snug fit up top and are loose through the leg. Roll up the hem for ankle booties or wear full with sneakers.

Abercrombie high rise Mom jean

I fell in love with Mom jeans a few years back and the fit has become a favorite. While the name may deter most, (not entirely sure why – it’s pretty cool to be a Mom, imo!) they’re both flattering and comfortable. These Abercrombie jeans have a 10″ rise, are slim through the top of body and then taper at the ankle. The distressing gives them character, and caters to my casual style perfectly. Mom or not, these jeans are a must!

Madewell Perfect Vintage jean

One of Madewell’s best selling styles, the perfect vintage jean is one to add to list. These technically are considered Mom jeans with their waist-accentuating high rise and tapered legs. But I feel they fit a bit differently than the A+F Mom jeans noted above. While the inseam and leg opening is similar, the frayed hem accommodates a larger variety of shoes. (think high shaft boots and high top sneakers). They also hold zero distressing, allowing for more versatility in closet. They’d be perfect for casual Fridays, weekend wear, or any time you’re elevating casual.

Agolde Dee short

Accessing all, in terms of denim shorts, I’d say this is the pair I’ve worn most. Agolde denim is a bit of a splurge, but well worth the investment. The inseam is right where I like my shorts to be, rise is high and the overall length provides a modest and classic fit. As with all Agolde denim, it’s true with very minimal stretch. Run tts.

For those looking to invest in a shorter option, this is my choice. These hold an 11″ rise and 2 1/2″ inseam. I find them to run a bit big, so I sized down one size. They’ve a nice roomy fit in the leg and are extremely flattering.

If you’re looking to update your light wash denim collection this Spring, I hope this makes the process a little easier! Every pair listed fits, feels and flatters so well; I wouldn’t opt them if they didn’t! Thanks for stopping by!
