Hi friends! Last year I shared a full round up of denim shorts and based on Instagram polls, you’re ready for another! A few shared are still available and back on Summer’s cue and some I’ve added more recently. While it’s still extremely important to focus on numbers (inseam, leg opening, rise, overall length and price), I thought to focus this second edition denim short round up as more of a shopping guide – providing you the details on where you can find your perfect denim short. These picks today hold a wide range of price points and reflect my most favorited denim short styles from each retailer. I also included a few ways of wear for added style inspo.
Bonus: Exploring my new found love for reels, I put together one to coincide with this round up. With the 30 second time limit, I only included 5 of the 6 shorts listed. None the less, you can watch it here if you’d like!
Abercrombie
4″ Mom in white // Shortly after last year’s post, these somehow made way to my cart. To say I love the fit of these is quite the understatement. Not only are they high waisted, they’ve a lengthy inseam – ideal for the modest at heart. They are available in several washes and extremely flattering. This style is also offered in their curvy fit, which is designed to eliminate any waist gap.
American Eagle
90s boyfriend // This particular pair I am wearing is a repeat from last year’s list. AE has since then returned the style, with a slight variance on numbers. The rise is now at 12 1/4″ and holds a 2 1/2″ inseam. I’ve tried the current style on in store, and the fraction of change isn’t much noticeable. I still love the fit and wash. I’ve always interpreted the boyfriend 90s style to hold a relaxed and loser fit. Wearing my true size, this particular pair isn’t as much relaxed as the name intends, nor is the pair I tried on in store. So for a true ‘boyfriend’ feel, I’d size up one size.
Mom cross over // I wasn’t too sure about the crossover button style trend, but these quickly grew on me. These are equally just as high in rise as the other AE pair, coming in at a 12 1/8″. They have a slight stretch to them, which provides a comfortable fit. I also love the rolled hem and minimal distressing.
Designer | Agolde
Dee short // Another repeater from last year and accessing all, I’d say it’s the pair I’ve worn most. Agolde denim is a bit of a splurge, but well worth the investment. The inseam is right where I like my shorts to be, rise is high and the overall length provides a modest and classic fit. As with all Agolde denim, it’s true with very minimal stretch. Runs tts.
Parker short // Tho not pictured, I thought to include these in the list for those looking to invest in a shorter option. I decided to grab this widely popular pair to see if it lived up to the hype. Knowing my love for the Dee short, I had a suspicion these would wind up a favorite as well. And boy have they ever. These hold an 11″ rise and 2 1/2″ inseam. I find them to run a bit big, so I sized down one size. They’ve a nice roomy fit in the leg.
Old Navy
OG short // Having loved the OG straight jeans, I knew I’d likewise enjoy these cut off shorts. These fit tts, hold a 3″ inseam and 10″ rise. The straight leg style provides you a nice amount of room in the leg, making these extremely comfortable for everyday wear. Love the frayed hem and minimal distressing.
Target
slim fit in black // I love the stretch of these, the 4″ inseam and the rolled hem. If you like the style, but prefer a different wash they are offered in a few other colors. As with all of those shown in list, the high rise is very comfortable and extremely flattering. I find these to run a bit small, so I sized up one size.
There you have it, our second edition denim short round up! Hopefully you’ve gained a little insight on where to shop this season. Until next time, thanks for stopping by!
xoxo
