Wow, it’s been a minute. A few minutes, actually. Despite the inconsistency, spotlighting random favorites is still one of my favorite types of posts to sit down and write. Not only are they a fun way to compile the extras and detail style specifics I may have missed, but these random lists are an opportunity for me to go outside of the TSS style realm. I have a bit more reign to chat about current reads, lifestyle, beauty, and well – random things that are putting a smile on my face!
While I probably should do a 2023 top randoms post – it has been almost a year since I last shared – I am also a believer in experiencing the now. Documenting what makes me smile in this present moment allows me to notice the good around me. So, without any further delay – today’s post shares 10 random things I am loving for Winter 2023.
10 random things I am loving for Winter 2023
one | JS Health Vitamins: Earlier this year I felt a little off. I wasn’t sleeping well, my cycle wasn’t when it should be, and I was extremely anxious. Grasping the changes that come with age turned difficult. I did some research and thought to try some supplements that are known to balance perimenopausal symptoms. They’ve done wonders. Since then I’ve added three supplements to my daily regimen. I’ve Magnesium that supports muscle relaxation, nerve function, and bone health. JS Health’s detox + debloat to support liver detoxification. And their metabolism+ formula that promotes healthy body metabolism, metabolic rate, and energy levels. I am sleeping better, my cycle is more consistent, and my anxiety levels feel balanced.
two | dystopian romance and fantasy novels: Truthfully, reading isn’t something I do often. Don’t get me wrong, I love to read – but finding the time to and prioritizing that time isn’t always practiced. When I do read, it’s because I’ve been drawn into a storyline that I simply cannot put down. The books I read have always been within the romance fiction genre, so picking up Fourth Wing – a dystopian romance fantasy novel – re-lit the fire and I cannot get enough. It’s a suspenseful, romantic, adventure-filled fantasy I am deeply invested in! Rebecca Yarros just released the second book in this series and you can bet I’ve it on my Christmas wishlist!
three | neighborhood walks: Considering it’s included in three prior lists, this random can now be considered systematic. My walks have turned more scenic since our move and I cannot be happier. As mentioned before, I struggle a lot with anxiety. When I feel the onset of stress and am overwhelmed, taking a walk to calm my mind and sort my thoughts is my relief. It’s this meditative, therapeutic state that I look forward to and turns the latter part of my days better.
four | outerwear: Yes, this favorite is also a random repeat. I am sure a lot has to do with the time of year, but outerwear and layers are one piece I love to style. A few layering favorites on repeat include Sezane’s Johnson overcoat, Good American’s oversized plaid shacket (similar pictured in this post), Mango’s olive long coat, and Abercrombie’s full zip sherpa.
five | wide-leg jeans: I’ve moved away from skinny jeans and embraced the wide-leg and straight-leg styles of denim that have become more popular in recent years. I shared a wide-leg denim edit earlier this month, and every bit of my enthusiasm was true. They’re comfortable and so fun to style!
six | Alo Yoga Accolade sweats: I live for comfies. Yes, I love the dress-up, but casual truly lies in my style definition. I discovered Alo Yoga’s Accolade sweatpants a while back and there’s just something about them that I prefer over any other. They fit perfectly; the waist is not overly elasticized, and the leg hems are not too tight. Soft fabric and great comfort make these a great choice for casual wear.
seven | Favorite Day trail mix: I love snacks. Snacks on snacks on snacks. And trail mix is pretty high on my list of afternoon pantry favorites! Target’s peanut butter monster mix is my all-time fave! It’s the perfect mix of sweet and salty. There are other mixes for nut lovers, chocolate lovers, and seasonal mixes as well! They come in both tubs and individual snack packets. Since I lack portion control, I prefer individual servings, otherwise, snacks can turn into meals! Haha!
eight | Epsom salt baths: One of my favorite rooms in our new home is the bathroom. Mainly for the standalone tub. Adding a handful of lavender Epsom salts to my evening bath has become a self-care ritual I look forward to often. It helps ease any stress, relaxes the body, relieves pain and muscle soreness .. it’s highly effective and a great way to unwind from my day.
nine | skinbetter science Tone Smart: If you’ve been around a while, you know I am not one to wear much makeup. It’s always been the minimum for me – a simple moisturizer, sunscreen, concealer, a little blush, and mascara and I am good. It’s skincare that I prefer to give my attention to. My aesthetician shared this oil-free, broad-spectrum sunscreen with me that fits well within my minimal makeup and treatment parameters. Tone Smart is slightly tinted and acts as a primer under makeup or in place of a light coverage foundation. This has permanently replaced my tinted moisturizer and simplified my makeup routine in the best way.
ten | Mad Men: Now let me preface this and say we finished this series a little over a month ago – but I am still thinking about it. That’s how good it is. Patrick and I watched a few seasons when it was on AMC several years back, but never completed it. Looking for another season to binge, we decided on this one and we were immediately drawn into every aspect of it – the characters, the lifestyle, the culture, the style! A true work of historical fiction, the storylines take place at one of New York’s most prestigious ad agencies. Advertising executives, business owners, and family members navigate the turbulent social scene and personal dilemmas of the 1960’s. The series is without a doubt one of my favorites. Highly recommend it!
